  • Fellow Programme In Social EntrepreneurshipOpen or Close

The global economy has seen many ups and downs, particularly over the last few years - and if there has been one major lesson learned from the times economies have faced challenges, it is that without a thriving population at the grassroot levels - empowered through, and to a great extent by, entrepreneurship - countries simply cannot sustain the kind of economic momentum required to grow along with the global economy. This makes Social Entrepreneurship an indispensable part of the building of individuals, organizations and nations. Social Entrepreneurship begins at the core of where social problems arise, and leverages upon both existing and evolving business techniques to understand and comprehensively address such issues - replicating the success of a business model and adapting it into a social context. And in developing economies, Social Entrepreneurship is an invaluable driver of next generation growth.

The Fellow Programme in Social Entrepreneurship focuses on the overall concepts of how socially entrepreneurial actions can result in the development of actionable models that can actually drive social - and subsequently, economic growth. Gleaning from social entrepreneurship ventures, both successful and unsuccessful, this programme is aimed at helping build a thorough understanding of the myriad factors that go into building social growth and development. Added to this is the depth of business-driven expertise that looks at each issue in a discrete manner, thus enabling fellows to understand how to leverage on the building blocks from each such issue and build a cohesive whole - thus contributing to actionable models of social growth and innovation in the field of social entrepreneurship.

    • To build a framework of inquiry in order to fully understand the factors that contribute to prevalent social conditions and constructs, and to leverage upon the stronger factors to drive social change

The objectives of the Fellow Programme in Social Entrepreneurship are:

  • Fellow Programme In Competency MappingOpen or Close

To lead any organization through extensive leadership effort, it is necessary to understand not merely the overall mission and work of the organization, but of the roles that the component parts of it play in the overall structure. The nature and scope of each specific work role within the larger framework forms the foundation of elements upon which an organization's success is built step by step - and for the most part, the core elements that define such nature and scope are dependent on the people manning these roles; specifically, with regard to the skills and level of knowledge required for such roles, as well as the behavioral and response capabilities of the individual’s for each such role. It is here that Competency Mapping plays a key role: - in terms of evaluation, assessing, selecting, recruiting and retaining the right people for the right works. Each individual thus appointed is therefore aware of not just the scope and limitations of their role, but also how best to leverage on their own skills and knowledge to fulfill the requirements of their roles to their highest capabilities - thereby benefiting the organization as part of a larger cohesive growth engine.

The Fellow Programme in Competency Mapping is designed to evaluate and assess all the key factors that go into the selection of the right people for the right roles, ranging from the bare necessities of assessing candidates from both a professional and psychological standpoint to assess their fitness and competency for a particular role, to understanding and implementing the right kind of decisions and activities to bring together both generic and specific strengths and capabilities of the individuals involved to create a well-oiled work structure that delivers on - and sustains - the core objectives of the organization in the long run.

    Aims and Objectives

The aims of Fellow Programme in Competency Mapping include:

    • To help students gain a comprehensive outlook on the requirement and means of competency mapping and assessment to build up capable organizations.
    • To consider each step discretely and from all angles to build effective approaches to both the professional and personal contexts that come into play during the competency mapping proces
    • To study current models from all possible aspects: – positive and negative, in order to build-up on existing mapping frameworks and evolve them into models more effectively in line with the changing needs of organizations in current global economy.

The objectives of Fellow Programme in Competency Mapping include:

    • To structure the process of competency mapping from a Leadership perspective in order to create a fundamental structure of value-added assessment.
    • To encourage innovative frameworks of competency mapping for different organizations from the standpoint of individual’s requirements for the benefits of the organizations.
    • To help create thorough models encompassing all possible and potential aspects that come into play from assessment to deployment of roles.

    Application Rating:

Apart from LAT and RAT, NSL follows an Application Rating procedure, under which the candidates' academic performance (which is, marks/percentages obtained) in 10th Standard, 12th Standard and Bachelor's and Masters' Degree Examinations respectively. During assessment of the candidates' 10th and 12th Standards scores, eligible candidates will be assigned rating scores of 'A' and 'B', as given in the table below.

For Masters' Degree: The eligible candidates as obtained in the previous stage will, on the basis of marks/percentages received on the completion of their Masters' Degree examinations, be assigned a rating score of 'C'.

    Notes about the marks obtained:
    • In case the candidate has not completed the Masters’ Degree, but is in the final year, he/she will be assessed based on the marks available till the point of study

    • Candidates who have cleared CA/ICWAI/CS without having cleared, or in lieu of having cleared their Masters’ Degree, will be assessed on their average of inter and final level marks

    • While calculating the application rating, all subjects listed on the mark sheet of both 10th and 12th Std. exams will be considered. This will be done irrespective of any optional subjects at the Board/University level, and whether they form a part of the total percentage as per the mark sheet or not.

In cases where the percentage/marks received by the candidate upon completion of the Masters' Degree by the Institute/University does not take into account marks in all the subjects (i.e., marks in optional subjects not calculated for the overall percentage for any or all of the academic years studied), and therefore the candidate does not wish for the same to be calculated, the candidate will be required to provide a certificate from the Principal/HoD/Registrar/Director of the Institute/University, clearly clarifying the marks not to be taken into account.

In cases where instead of marks and/or percentages, the Board, Institute or University provides only letter grades, without any corresponding equivalent of either marks or percentage of marks as per the mark sheet, the candidate will need to provide a certificate/official written document from the institute mentioning the marks/percentages equivalent to the letter grades awarded to the candidate. This requirement, as it arises, must be fulfilled where the candidate is shortlisted for the Interview.

    Rating Score:

As mentioned, applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of LAT/CAT/GMAT/XAT scores as applicable. The Application Rating Score – specific to candidates applying on the basis of CAT written exam scores – will be as follows:

For candidates eligible to be considered through the LAT, or scores other than CAT, i.e., GMAT/MAT/XAT, the following equivalent CAT scores will be applied:

    LAT Equivalent Other Scores
    CAT (%) GMAT XAT MAT
    80 80 800 80 800
    79 79 790 79 790
    78 78 780 78 780
    77 77 770 77 770
    76 76 760 76 760
    75 75 750 75 750
    74 74 740 74 740
    73 73 730 73 730
    72 72 720 72 720
    71 71 710 71 710
    70 70 700 70 700

Based on the percentages and equivalent scores as per the examination given, candidates will be shortlisted for the written analysis, group discussion and personal interview rounds. The selection in these stages will strictly be based only on ranks on the Aggregate Score (based on LAT/CAT/GMAT/XAT/MAT). However, the Admissions Committee would have complete discretion over the selection procedure.

Not only senior students, but even Mentors at the National School of Leadership join in ragging new-comers unaware. However, ragging activities at NSL are strategically orchestrated with the help of Mentors with the objective of inspiring psychological and leadership development at an early stage, bonding among new-comers, seniors & mentors and creating an experience that is enjoyable and pleasantly memorable for life by both seniors and new-comers.

However, any ragging activity that is outside the permissible limits as per statutes of the Government of India, including any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student or asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority would be treated with 0 tolerance and may lead to immediate termination of the accused student/s and appropriate legal action taken.

The National School of Leadership maintains an open door policy for all students. In case of an emergency including an attempt to ragging outside the permissible limits, any prospective victim can fearlessly walk in to any official of the National School of Leadership including the Chairman, Directors or even a board room while a board meeting is going on. All doors are flung open during such situations and no appointments are required.

    Corruption

It is important to note that the National School of Leadership does not accept any donations for admissions or offer any management-quota seats or engage any individual or organization to accept documentation or fee on behalf of the National School of Leadership unless they are listed on our website. The only way of making it to the National School of Leadership is by merit. NSL maintains a strict 0 tolerance towards any form of corruption. Strict action would be taken against anyone trying to pay a bribe or anyone receiving it at the National School of Leadership.
